Light Aircraft Pilot’s Licence
The Light Aircraft Pilot’s Licence is a slightly more restrictive (but easier to obtain) licence than the PPL. It permits the holder to operate an aeroplane within European states during daylight hours and in visual meteorological conditions (VMC).
The course comprises at least 30 hours of training including at least:
15 hours of dual flight instruction
6 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 3 hours of solo cross country flight and at least one cross country flight of at least 150 km (80 NM) including a full stop landing at an aerodrome away from the departure aerodrome.
You will also need to complete 9 theoretical knowledge examinations, a practical test for the Flight Radiotelephony Operator’s Licence and a skill test with an examiner once the above requirements are met.
